About the Global Disability Fund (GDF)

The Global Disability Fund (GDF), formerly known as the United Nations Partnership on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNPRPD), is a multi-partner trust fund dedicated to advancing disability-inclusive development worldwide.

GDF supports the implementation of:

  • The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD)
  • The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
  • National and regional efforts to promote the leadership and meaningful participation of persons with disabilities

Hosted within UNDP’s Governance team in BPPS, the GDF Secretariat operates under an independent Strategic Plan and annual workplans approved by its Steering Committee. GDF works closely with governments, UN entities, civil society organizations, organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs), and the private sector to catalyze systemic change.

As GDF expands its strategic reach, partnerships, and funding portfolio, the Secretariat is strengthening its coordination, donor engagement, and operational capacity to ensure accountability, impact, and sustainability.


Position Overview

The Partnership and Coordination Officer plays a critical role in supporting the Director of the Global Disability Fund and the wider Secretariat. The position focuses on partnership development, donor engagement, programme coordination, research, and administrative support, contributing to the effective delivery of GDF’s strategic objectives.

This role is well-suited for a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented professional with experience in international development, partnerships, and coordination. The Officer will work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, supporting high-level engagement with donors, partners, and stakeholders while ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of the Secretariat.


Key Objectives of the Role

The Partnership and Coordination Officer will contribute to:

  • Strengthening strategic partnerships and donor relationships
  • Supporting programme coordination and workplan monitoring
  • Enhancing organizational effectiveness and operational efficiency
  • Ensuring high-quality research, documentation, and communications
  • Supporting inclusive, accountable, and transparent governance processes

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Partnership Development and Donor Engagement

The Officer will support the creation, maintenance, and expansion of partnerships that advance disability-inclusive development:

  • Conduct background research and analysis to identify new partnership and donor engagement opportunities
  • Monitor trends in global development, disability inclusion, and multilateral funding
  • Support the preparation, review, and revision of partnership agreements, memoranda of understanding (MOUs), and related documentation
  • Assist with donor mapping and profiling, including tracking engagement levels and identifying collaboration opportunities
  • Maintain and regularly update the donor and partner contact database
  • Support donor communications, including correspondence, follow-ups, acknowledgments, and scheduling
  • Assist in planning and delivering donor briefings, webinars, roundtables, and high-level events
  • Prepare background notes, talking points, and briefing materials to support donor visibility and engagement

2. Programme Coordination and Workplan Monitoring

The role contributes substantively to coordination across the GDF Secretariat:

  • Support monitoring of progress against the annual workplan, including tracking timelines, deliverables, and follow-up actions
  • Provide coordination and documentation support for internal meetings, retreats, and planning sessions
  • Prepare agendas, meeting notes, and action trackers
  • Support logistical coordination of programme activities across the Secretariat
  • Ensure alignment between strategic priorities, operational plans, and reporting requirements

3. Support to the Director and Governance Bodies

The Partnership and Coordination Officer provides direct support to senior leadership:

  • Assist the Director’s participation in external meetings, conferences, and high-level events
  • Maintain a calendar of strategic engagement opportunities
  • Provide administrative and logistical support, including travel coordination and mission preparation
  • Organize Board and Steering Committee meetings, including scheduling, documentation, participant coordination, and follow-up on decisions
  • Ensure timely dissemination of materials and accurate record-keeping

4. Administrative and Procurement Support

The Officer supports operational and administrative processes in line with UNDP procedures:

  • Assist with logistics for events, meetings, and workshops, including venue coordination and participant communication
  • Support procurement processes, including drafting Terms of Reference, reviewing applications, and managing correspondence
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, timelines, and documentation standards
  • Contribute to efficient, transparent, and accountable operations

Institutional Arrangement

The Partnership and Coordination Officer will report to the GDF Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Specialist and work closely with the GDF Director and Secretariat team within UNDP’s BPPS Governance practice.


Required Qualifications

Education

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in:
    • Administration
    • Public Relations
    • Communications
    • International Development
    • Social Sciences or related fields

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with additional qualifying experience in lieu of a Master’s degree

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience (with a Master’s degree) or 4 years (with a Bachelor’s degree)
  • Experience in:
    • International development
    • Programme coordination
    • Partnerships or donor engagement
  • Demonstrated experience supporting high-level events, dialogues, or partnerships
  • Experience with administrative and procurement procedures in large organizations is an advantage

Languages

  • Fluency in English is required
  • Knowledge of another UN language, particularly French or Spanish, is an asset
